WordPress: reSmush.it when inserting images?

What is behind it?

When I wanted to publish a few blog articles today in the partner blog, it suddenly looked a little different. The image was offered to be compressed by default with the online service “reShmush.it”.

The service itself offers free image compression, so far certainly not bad, but I don’t necessarily want to create an external dependency.

But where did this come from? It was kindly mentioned directly in a link that you can configure this in the “WP-Optimise” settings. As I don’t really need the plugin and only used it once to tidy up, I deactivated and deleted it. After that the spook was gone.
