DEADJOE file? What is behind it?
A brief moment of shock when moving our website to a new server. A file with the trustworthy name “DEADJOE”. At first glance, such a name makes you think of some kind of malware that you have caught on your web space.
However, I can give the all-clear here. The file comes from the editor “joe“. During the move, I had to change the database access data of WordPress and simply used the editor function of Midnight Commander.
On our server, this uses “joe” by default to edit the files. It was much more difficult to use than “vim”, so I closed the terminal after I couldn’t save and exit. In such a case, or when the software crashes, the file in question is created.
